what's the best way to tap low grade aluminium ?
this may be in the wrong catagory but it's the closet thing i could find.
i need to tap a series of 1/2" BSP threads in some aluminium bar but cannot do it on the CNC machine as the tap picks up the swarf and starts to make a mess of the threads.
better grade material is out of the question because of the cost.
what's the best solution.
currently using a straight 4 flute HSS tap
have you tried spiral flute taps? the chips will be removed directly from the hole without stopping.
