Polo gearbox noise - differential bearing?
So, I thought my problem was going to be the clutch release bearing. I've got the gearbox out of my polo and the clutch release bearing seems okay to me. If I drive the clutch spindle with my hand, however, and the car is in a gear, then i can hear a slight grinding noise. I took the car to bits because of a grinding noise that was proportional to the wheel speed, had nothing to do with braking and was reduced when the clutch was depressed.
Looks like it's something internal to the gearbox now...
Any ideas?
I think I might just push the stupid car off a cliff. Grrrr.
Check the oil level in your gearbox if it's correct then I would say it's probably the diffential and you will have to replace it either with a recondition one or a second hand one, it's a pretty expensive repair.
