Senior Housing Options From Independent Living to Skilled Nursing Facilities

There are many different types of senior care and housing, ranging from skilled nursing facilities to independent living communities. An independent living center will often provide each resident with their own apartment containing a kitchenette and living room, as well as amenities such as swimming pools and recreation areas just like an apartment or condo building. Other facilities offer medical supervision around the clock to ensure that residents with special healthcare needs are taken care of. You may also want to consider a home healthcare nurse if you want your parent or any other elderly loved one to live with you or on their own, without fear that their health is in danger.

If your loved one needs skilled nursing services, a nursing and rehabilitation home might be the best option. These are large homes that have been licensed to provide custodial care and rehabilitative care such as physical, occupational or speech therapy, and in some cases they also offer social, recreational and spiritual activities.
