Tips to Do Well At Mini Golf
There is a saying that goes, “Even God has to practice his putting. “ Putting at a miniature golf course is the most entertaining past time for the whole family to enjoy. You might start off a little shaky since putting requires focus, control and good eye-hand coordination. However, with practice you can really master the art of playing the game. I’ve decided to compile some helpful hints and tips which I’ve learned through my mini golf experience to effectively enhance your putting skills.
If you’re a complete beginner, I’d suggest limiting the number of people playing with you to one or two people. Go with someone who’s experienced with putting and playing at a Miniature Golf course. Smaller groups will help you concentrate on the ball and acquire the technique of swinging. Your friends should be experienced enough to be able to teach you so that you can get the golf ball in the hole in as few strokes as possible.
Practice makes perfect. Aren’t you tired of hearing that line? But it’s so true. The more you take time out to just hit some balls at a miniature golf course to practice your aim, the better you will get at putting. There’s no shortcut around this. Imagining a line from the ball to the hole will make it easier for you to assess the angle to aim and the strength of your golf swing. It’s a good idea to take a couple practice swings without a ball in place and then go on to hit the ball.
Make sure to complete your stroke fully before coming out of your position to check the ball. Half the time the ball gets deflected because people are in so much of a hurry to see the outcome of their swing. So keep in mind to follow through on your swing, hold your position for a moment, and then move. The best stance is to keep your head above the ball and ensure your upper body does not move while you putt. Your shoulders and wrists should be steady and the movement of your swing should come from your chest pivoting. Your shoulders arms and wrists should be aligned together and move as one connected unit. Spread your feet out to gain a firm balanced footing and line up your feet to the ball. Your head should not be moving at all while you putt.
Don’t be embarrassed to take your time assessing all the factors concerning your swing. Many experienced putters kneel down to ground level to check the surface angle of the putt. When you are able to view the angle of the ground you will know what will be required to get the golf ball into the hole. Hit at the back of the ball and not at the centre as this will help you aim the ball directly towards the hole. The idea is to hit the ball in such a manner that it rolls across to the hole you aim. You should not attempt to guide the ball or push it to its destination but instead you should be swinging through it for successful putting technique. Practice these tips and you will be a putting sensation the next time you decide to visit a Miniature Golf course!
